| As the original location of Purple Café, this spot is credited with bringing the area one of its first destinations to enjoy wine and food pairings. The charming setting is low-key and casual. The menu proposes various cheese plates---also available with wine pairings---soups, salads, sandwiches, pastas, pizzas and entrées. Pasta favorites include lobster mac 'n' cheese while pizzas offer contemporary toppings, such as house-made calabrese sausage. Traditional entrées range between land and sea choices, such as pan-seared Alaskan king salmon or braised pork cheeks with potato gnocchi. For dessert, choose small bites such as a Key lime mousse trifle or a more substantial seasonal fruit shortcake. Of course, the whole experience shines because of the extensive wine list, which covers European products but draws heavily on Northwest vintners. Flights, glasses or bottles are available. Servers are pleased to answer questions and help you choose complementary pairings. |
