R Bistro Restaurant Review: Chef/owner Regina Mehallick turns out inspired dishes that emphasize locally sourced produce, dairy and meats. While the sleek black and silver décor gives a tony feel, it is the food and ambience that keep diners returning. Even though the menu changes weekly, guests know seasonal dishes --- mussels with a cider shallot reduction, and Brussels sprout salad with beets, manchego and toasted almonds --- will spark the taste buds and satisfy the soul. Meatless entrées such as winter pumpkin, radicchio and kale risotto are as popular as the Cornish game hens with Swiss chard and double cheese bread pudding. One thing that does not change is the chance to order a truffle, made in the candy store next door, to end the meal.
