THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Radial Cafe Restaurant Review:

About the restaurant & décor: Radial Cafe owner Frank Bragg repurposed the former The Pecan space, but wisely left intact the old painted Coca-Cola sign that emerged on the long brick wall when a previous restaurant tenant did its original renovation. Warm natural light enters this historic space through a roof skylight as well as via large front windows.

Food & Drinks: We like the breakfast pancakes (gluten-free included) and pure maple syrup. Grits are stone ground, of course. Poached eggs come soft as ordered, but we find the red flannel hash a bit heavy on the potatoes and light on the corned beef, although its flavor is excellent. Start any meal with a cup of whatever soup is on offer, as they’re never boring. Weekday menus focus more on sandwiches, such as a Sloppy Joe made with Coca-Cola braised brisket and a fried chicken sandwich. The sweet tea-brined pork chop at dinner, cooked pink as ordered, is ideal with the corn-poblano soufflé, one of several “crops,” as the menu calls vegetable sides. Desserts recall tradition, too, with a caramel cake that's not quite like what your Grandma used to make but very good. A short but sensibly priced wine list and a brief beer menu with lots of local options round out the quaffs, and cocktails make great openers. The original location is in Atlanta’s Candler Park at 1530 DeKalb Ave. Parking is limited, but the MARTA station is right across the street.
