This delightful little hangout has been referred to as the Cajun embassy, with good reason.

Creating a Western Louisiana roadhouse on Pier Avenue in Hermosa Beach might sound like a project for Disneyland, and you might expect the food at such an establishment to taste more of Styrofoam than red pepper. Nevertheless, The Ragin’ Cajun really does feel like a little slice of Cajun country minus the humidity and insect life, and the food is reassuringly flavorful. The lunch menu is small and leans on standard items like jambalaya, gumbo and catfish; but the evening menu is more ambitious and includes a blackened rib-eye that is one of the better steaks in the area. Owner Steven Domingue is originally from Lafayette, Louisiana, and he keeps the place strictly traditional. This is real Cajun food rather than some California modification, and he’s determined to keep it that way.
