One of Eat Street’s best bets for Chinese food is here at the Wong family’s restaurant. Between inexpensive Chinese soups and more elaborate main courses, there’s something for every taste and budget. We like going with a large group---mostly because there are too many dishes on the menu that we don’t want to miss. The Szechwan wontons are spicy and complex, filled with shrimp and pork and lightly sautéed in soy sauce. The five-spice calamari is so good you'll want to get as many as you can before they disappear. Our favorite entrée is the sate summer beef---sliced beef tenderloin sautéed with onion in a spunky sauce served over steamed Napa cabbage. For seafood, we recommend either the shrimp or the scallops with black bean sauce; Rainbow's version is lighter than most, but just as earthy and good. The Singapore chow mai fun, a curried blend of pork, shrimp, onion and bean sprouts, is a must for noodle-lovers.
