The Lower East Side is changing every minute---but, thank goodness, the 90-year-old-plus Ratner’s remains, still a favorite for its traditional fare. It just debuted an alternative (and according to regulars, controversial) menu of upscale Continental dishes. But it’s still a faded pink from the ’30s, and many of the happy eaters still come in from Long Island or other far reaches for their fix of Old-World food unavailable anywhere else in New York. Favorite classics include the nova platters, onion rolls, marinated herring and cheese blintzes. The waiters have been here for ages and will help you order if the menu items are unfamiliar.
