THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED The Real Chow Baby Restaurant Review:
The drill at this innovative concept is thus: Take your seat and order your drink. A small wooden paddle on a stick bears your table number; write your name on it. Take it with you to the line and grab a black bowl, ladle into it white or brown rice, and select the vegetables for your stir-fry. Select a sauce or sauces then choose the protein---pork, squid (sweet and tender), fish, chicken or a mix---in a separate red bowl. Leave all in the designated area with your paddle; return to your seat and your food will arrive promptly. Asian-influenced appetizers include egg rolls, pot stickers, spring rolls and the like, while the best dessert is probably the sorbet after all that food. To accompany your meal, a beer or cold saké is a better choice than a selection from the wine list, although there are lots of funky-named cocktails and fresh-squeezed juices for "mocktails." Also located at 1016 Howell Mill Rd. NW, Ste. A, 404-815-4900.
