Plenty of seafood with a refreshing Tex-Mex spin thanks to chef Ben Berryhill.

Dining room at Red Drum Gastropub, Mt. Pleasant, SCRed Drum Gastropub is the gorgeous brainchild of Ben Berryhill, former chef of the famous Houston restaurant, Café Annie. The combination of white tablecloths, casual happy hour, clubby pub atmosphere and outdoor courtyard manages to offer something to almost everyone. Berryhill's Houston influence offers a refreshing approach to the naturally seafood-heavy Lowcountry cuisine, creating treats like grouper ceviche and a concoction of shrimp and crab meat in chipotle ketchup with freshly diced tomato on a base of guacamole. Berryhill has a taste for detail, and even makes the tortilla chips accompanying the dish. The dinner menu is equally enticing with the exception of a somewhat boring black bean soup. The fish specials in particular are reliable.
