Red House Cafe Restaurant Review: This barn-red cottage with a wraparound porch and a country-style menu feels a little more Connecticut than California. Make a handsome breakfast of cinnamon-raisin brioche french toast and mimosas, or go the route of the Benedict with velvety hollandaise sauce. Don't be shy: ask for a side of chicken apple sausage. Or stop in for an afternoon bite --- an inventive grilled cheese sandwich boasts Fontina, artichoke hearts, roasted peppers and black olive aïoli. When the seasonal soup “is on” it really is --- you'll wish they served the silky English pea version daily. At dinner, fill up with a couple of small plates, such as the salmon pizza, or go for the gusto with a nicely roasted chicken with mashed potatoes paired with something from the balanced, one-page wine list.
