Redeye Grill Restaurant Review

: Located across from Carnegie Hall, this restaurant may be called the Home of the Dancing Shrimp, but the dancing shrimp --- two slowly revolving, six-foot bronze-colored statues --- are the least whimsical aspect of David Rockwell's campy design. You're more likely to notice the murals of frolicking nudes that wrap the 15-foot-high columns, or the lavish display of smoked fish --- from tequila-, jalapeño- and orange-flavored smoked salmon to smoked sable and chub. We especially like the signature salad of spinach, avocado, hearts of palm, bacon and poached egg topped with a Dijon dressing. Entrées cover a wide range of fish and meat dishes, all prepared in rich classic styles, like trout amandine, dry-aged New York strip and braised short ribs. Just don’t leave without ordering the banana cream pie. There's live jazz most evenings and during Sunday brunch.
