Redwood Restaurant & Bar Restaurant Review: Redwood plunged into Bethesda life with this large, dark, woodsy-feeling place. While there may not be a smidgen of actual redwood in the space, the restaurant does recall a back-to-nature feel, especially with its very farm-friendly and artisanal dishes that keep pace with the seasons in a mid-Atlantic and all-American way. Menu items change seasonally, of course, but you should be on the lookout for the cheese offerings, the crispy salmon and shrimp cakes, and at dinner, the braised short ribs or the rotisserie Amish chicken. The chef also turns out a mighty mean hamburger, half-pound and wood-grilled, accompanied by a pile of hand-cut fries; that's a lunchtime star and a special with a cold beer. Also check out the lengthy wine list, replete with a wide range of reds and whites primarily from California. |
