Down by the River and London Bridge, this smart restaurant, overseen by Giorgio Locatelli, has a bar down one side and windows with Venetian blinds on the other, with a dark wood interior and long tables. Ingredients rule, so if you want the taste of the moment, go for the changing seasonal menu. On the main menu, you might start with pan-fried scallops with leek and chickpea purée and sweet-and-sour sauce, go on to a first-rate freshly made pasta, then perhaps sea bass with lemon spinach, carrots and balsamic vinegar reduction, or pork medallions with courgettes and girolles mushrooms. There’s also a selection of charcuterie and cheese platters to share. Very good cooking and professional but friendly service make this destination dining, but like all City restaurants, the lunchtime is the busiest. A wide-ranging Italian wine list is a delight.
