This French-Mediterranean spot in a corner location in Fairfax’s Mosaic District showcases dishes like artichoke and white bean rillettes, mussel and clam escabeche, and celery root pastrami. Adventurous eaters will relish these and such options as the eggplant-tomato ratatouille (classic French), the garlic bread and the platter of fritto misto (fried prawns, calamari and fennel), all appetizers. Lunchtime entrées include the typical “French” sandwiches, croque monsieur and croque madame, and an American treat, the Requin double cheeseburger. Other mains are fried mussels, a quiche with country ham and piquillo peppers, and a duck confit-scallion pancake. Dinner starters are quite similar and the entrées include big, splashy fare from jumbo lump crab cake to steak frites. For dessert, be sure to select the chocolate soufflé if it’s available.
