Restaurant Lasarte Restaurant Review

: Dark wood, elegant lighting and neutral tones create a sense of warmth and harmony in this intimate restaurant, which is housed in the Hotel Condes on Barcelona’s iconic Passeig de Gràcia. Renowned chef Martín Berasategui’s creative flair, innovation and Basque roots are evident in the immaculate à la carte and tasting menus. Start with a selection of appetizers such as crayfish à la vanilla with marrow cream, cold vegetable minestrone and bottarga, and Iberian presa on foie gras curd with marine salad and mustard ice cream. Must-try fish dishes include charcoal grilled tuna with citrus, black olive, capers and galanga, and the roasted Dover sole with parsnip purée, cuttlefish and pink grapefruit vinaigrette. Meat lovers can choose from such delights as the roast pigeon with Iberian mask ragoût, pineapple and saffron compote, or the grilled ox filet with chard and cheese bonbon. A sommelier is on hand to offer guidance on the extensive wine list, which offers a vast selection of the best wines from the region of Catalonia and beyond. Try a bottle from the nearby Penedès wineries, where Gran Reservas and Crianzas exemplify the finest of the local vines. Dessert is equally as enticing, with big flavor dishes that include lemon peel ice cream with cardamom infused olive oil cake, as well as curd cream of fennel with green apple sorbet and celery, and chocolate soufflé with Earl Grey ice cream.
