Restaurant Le Piemontais Restaurant Review: Tucked away to the east of Chinatown, Le Piémontais has offered fine Italian cuisine for thirty-plus years. Not much to look at on the outside, the inside is a landscape of culinary precision and purity. Smartly dressed waiters glide effortlessly among the tables taking orders, filling bread baskets and seeing that customers are happy. The bill of fare features two tasting menus and an accompanying wine list to match. With the table d'hôte comes unexpected delights such as lemon chicken wings, a lovely but rather odd addition to the generally refined and traditional Italian cuisine. Among the classics are pasta with clam sauce, stracchiatella, and veal in various preparations. Chilled duck pâté served with fresh crispy bread is a standout. Linguine with smoked salmon and leeks in a cream sauce features unusual but appealing flavor combinations. Desserts include tiramisu, crème caramel, crème brûlée and cakes. |
