THIS ESTABLISHMENT IS NOW A PRIVATE EVENT SPACE In an impressively renovated former gentleman's club that also houses an upscale banquet business, the Phoenix is Cincinnati's best-kept fine dining secret. Its dishes are nicely rendered, and the menu is surprisingly adventurous. Offerings include lobster bisque and grilled beef skewers with garlic-mustard marinade and potato cake to start, followed by steak Diane and filet mignon or rack of lamb and ginger sea bass. Adding to the genteel appeal, steaks come with a choice of sauces like béarnaise, minted Bordelaise and Gorgonzola butter. Prices are higher than at other local spots; that said, we still find them reasonable, given the quality of the cuisine. Bargains can be found in the knowledgeably stocked cellar.
