Restaurant Story Restaurant Review:

Chef Tom Sellers has been in the kitchens of Noma, Per Se and Tom Aikens. His Restaurant Story is located near Tower Bridge in a smart building on a traffic island. But the fireworks start with the cooking. Choose from a 6-course (£75) and 10-course (£100) menu. Both begin with that British classic of bread and dripping, setting the tone for an inventive meal: the dish has a lit candle made from the dripping and as it melts you soak it up with sourdough bread. Follow with the likes of a purée of heritage potatoes with peas, broad beans and “coal,” which is an inky-black sauce. Rich foie gras is combined with cherry and nasturtium; English strawberries are complemented with chamomile and sweet cicely. There are local beers to drink as well as an international wine list with many by the glass or half bottle. There’s an equally interesting selection of juices and teas. Décor is minimal with brown leather chairs, Delft tiles, a red-tiled open kitchen and large windows giving a view of the Shard. 3-course set lunch £39.
