In recent years, chef-owner Jean-Francois Taquet has moved out of the kitchen---his many interests include organic lamb ranching in New Zealand. Fortunately, his virtual chef-dom is not a problem. Though chef de cuisine Clark Gilbert has left the restaurant, Youness Jaafar has assumed his duties. In the charming, slightly formal dining room, guests can sample updated staples: snails with garlic arugula butter, country pâté with onion marmalade, tuna puttanesca. A six-course tasting menu is available at $75 per person. In the more casual bar, with its large picture windows and outdoor porch dining, the same menu is offered, along with soups and salads, and another chance to savor dessert---fruit salad with honey-yuzu sauce or decadent bittersweet mousse with an accompaniment of hazelnut crunch.
