Reuben's Deli Restaurant Review: Reuben’s sits on the mainline of Montreal’s business core, just steps away from the raucous corner of Peel and Ste. Catherine, beckoning locals and visitors of all ages, at all hours (open till midnight weekdays and 1:30 a.m. weekends) and of all economic persuasions. The deli is smoked-meat central and known for its Famous Super Sandwich, featuring ten ounces of spicy slices piled high on rye which rivals even Schwartz’s on Blvd. St. Laurent. Friday night’s line-up begins at 6:15 p.m., as artfully assembled salad creations and certified Angus beef steaks are delivered to tables amid thumping house music by sharply-dressed, white-aproned waitstaff. The All-American Burger with melted cheddar and hickory-smoked bacon hits the spot, but don’t expect fresh coleslaw and pickles, or just off the grill bacon---Reuben’s is all about volume. |
