| While southern French and northern European cuisine may be the bedrock of Rigsby's menu, chef Kent Rigsby's periodic forays into Greek cooking and game dishes keep things eclectic. Old reliables include first-rate risottos (for example, one made with Gorgonzola, red onions and pistachios), potato gnocchi and spicy penne arrabbiata. But this restaurant is known for its tendency to successfully push the envelope---hence a salad of black lentils, spinach and leg and thigh of duck confit. Then there's the grilled boudin blanc with spicy cabbage and, instead of plain grilled salmon, an imaginative roulade. Top off your meal with some Lake Erie creamery chèvre. The notable wine list includes fine selections for any palate. The California bistro setting hosts many of the city's movers and shakers---but they're here for the food, not to impress each other. |
