| Since this restaurant opened in the historic site of the former Bull Ring, it's been one of Santa Fe's power restaurants. New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson counts this clubby, handsome restaurant as one of his favorite hang-outs, and when the legislature is in session, the dining room is the site of many off-the-floor deals and negotiations. Why? It all starts with good steaks, served in thick, juicy cuts; Black Angus prime rib offered in three sizes; and accompaniments including a spicy cheese fondue served with vegetables and apples. The calamari appetizer often does double-duty as an entrée; so does the campfire shrimp, skewers of sizzling chipotle-rubbed shrimp served with a sweet-hot pineapple-and-peach salsa. The enclosed patio is just the place for a quiet conversation or a rousing political discussion. |
