THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Rip's Seafood Restaurant Restaurant Review: This laid-back seafood restaurant has had a succession of owners, but its been a fixture along the grassy expanse of Lake Pontchartrains northern shoreline for more than a half-century. Its a safe bet that the cooking style---solidly grounded in frying, broiling and boiling---has seen no significant changes in the interim. If gumbo, seafood platters and shrimp or oyster poor-boy sandwiches are your quarry, you could do a lot worse than stop in at Rips for a quick refueling. The belt-buster is the poor boy with fried oysters, bacon and cheese.
