A godsend for the busy Lyn-Lake corridor that has long lacked Italian options beyond pizza, Risotto is a fresh-faced spot with an uncomplicated take on regional cuisine. Behind the inconspicuous storefront location, the mustard and scarlet dining room and its lovely brushed steel bar radiates a cool-yet-classic vibe that's in step with the streamlined menu and wine list. With a namesake dish that’s often mediocre even in reliable kitchens, chef Gabriele Lo Pinto cooks like he has something to prove. And prove that he does: risottos (dinner only) fulfill their culinary potential, from a funghi porcini e pollo that’s pungent and supple to a capesante e arugula, in which the creamy scallops, bitter greens and Grana Padano complete a trifecta of flavor. Whatever you do, don't miss the polpettone di faggiolini, delicate green bean soufflé that makes vegetable-eating seem sinful.
