Ristorante Bis Restaurant Review: Situated in the heart of downtown, and only a few blocks away from the bustle of Montreal's Rue Crescent, Ristorante Bis marries old-world charm with trendy chic. The restaurant is somber, with long arches reminiscent of Italian rural architecture. The décor is classic dark wood with comfortable seating and clean, crisp lines. The menu is typical of Italian restaurants: a slew of pasta, risotto and veal dishes, and there’s a ten-page wine list to peruse, too. An entrée of smoked bison arranged around a deceptively simple arugula salad topped with olive oil and shaved Parmesan is a standout, as is the penne with Italian sausage in a rosé sauce, albeit less exotic. The fresh fish of the day is usually a good bet. Although a little pricier than other nearby restaurants, the overall experience is well worth the higher tab. Service is professional and well informed, with servers able to converse in Italian. |
