The first Ristorante Ferrantelli opened in Rome in 1950, and its ambience, hospitality and cuisine were transported intact to Dana Point in the ’90s. For nearly three decades, the eatery has respected its roots and serves up fine authentic Italian cuisine, mostly fresh seafood and classic pasta dishes. Start with the lightly-dusted calamari served with a hearty marinara sauce. Or, how about sautéed mussels and clams with garlic, basil and chile peppers in a white wine and tomato sauce? For dinner, there’s a cold and hot menu, along with antipasto table selections as well as classic pastas, risottos and veal dishes. The harbor location and the upscale Italian ambience make this a rather romantic place, and wedding proposals, rehearsal dinners and anniversary parties can be found here frequently. On the weekends, jazz bands add to the lively restaurant and lounge scenes.
