Ristorante Il Latini Restaurant Review:

Family-run Il Latini, located on a small pedestrian-only side street just off the Piazza di San Pancrazio, serves authentic Tuscan food but is renowned for its Florentine steaks. The atmosphere is friendly and casual; guests are often asked to share a table with others. At opening time, eager patrons line up in front of the door, but everyone gets seated quickly enough and staff offer wine and cheese to those who are waiting. As all ingredients used in the kitchen are fresh from local producers, certain dishes will not always be on the menu. When in season, try the quartered fried artichokes with steak, or opt for the tomato soup with stale bread, garlic, basil and thyme. Follow with the Florentine steak from Chianina, which is charcoal broiled and served by the kilo (approximately two pounds, so splitting it is the way to go). Side dishes are vegetables drizzled with a Tuscan olive oil. The wine cellar has a large collection of great cru from France as well as Italy’s best selections. Super Tuscans deserve a special mention. Most locals choose the house wine presented in a carafe. Desserts are different daily but the tiramisu is always available, made with fluffy egg white and mascarpone and Pavesini biscuits drenched in espresso.
