 As Italian as its name may sound, Ristorante Primadonna also offers an array of sushi that rivals any of the best sushi bars in town. At first glance, the combination of sushi and pasta may seem a bit odd but the method of serving food in bite-size pieces is not unheard of in Italy---think sushi del Chianti. The sushi menu caters to the bustling office crowd around Blvd. St. Laurent looking for a quick luncheon or a good starter before the main course. The restaurant’s new-age décor of Mandarin red and black sets a very romantic mood. Complimentary appetizers of salmon tartare with sesame seed dressing are served along with a basket of Italian breads. Try the seafood tagliatelle, beautifully plated with a rich and handsome helping of large shrimps, clams and sun-dried tomatoes. Another simpler but robust offering is the pappardelle served with buffalo mozzarella and rosy tomato sauce. Although the restaurant is on the pricier side, the value is there in a selection of fine main dish steaks and seafood. Service is prompt and attentive. Anticipate a mostly Italian wine list. And---curiously, there are more single malt scotches offered than sakés.
