THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Roadside Eats Restaurant Review:

Dave Northrup’s (Rush Street, City Tavern) tasty Southern barbecue is a boon to movie-goers and everyone else at the Hollywood ArcLight complex. Clean and bright, with a dramatic view of the classic Cinerama Dome, this unpretentious café eschews the folksy rustic veneer of many ’cue joints but embraces authentic flavors of classic Southern roadside counters. Tender Carolina pulled pork or slow-smoked brisket in a sweet, tangy sauce are paired with a toasted Hawaiian bread bun, and offset with vinegary slaw. Other choices include pecan fried chicken, a Cajun shrimp po’ boy or fried green tomato BLT. The meats are available in a salad, too. Baked beans are first-rate, and City Tavern chef Jessica Christensen whips up bright seasonal side salads (ideal for vegans) ranging from watermelon with edamame and ginger, and roasted Brussels sprouts with raisins and shallots, to black-eyed peas with summer tomato and oregano relish. Fried peach pie is a lovely end. PBR on tap or canned White Rascal Ale pairs well with it all. Service is fast and friendly.
