This neighborhood dining establishment remains a draw for northern metro denizens. Many dishes are simply over-wrought, with a piling on of ingredients that defies the imagination--or good taste sense. Calamari tubes, stuffed with disparate ingredients, taste strongly of basil, then are covered in melted cheese, crafting a dish that loses all sense of the primary ingredient. Better to stick with simple preparations, such as mussels steamed in white wine and garlic or spanikopita, its flaky pastry enclosing nicely seasoned spinach. Fancier fare is simply a waste of fine material. The wine list contains ordinary choices; in addition, reds are served way too warm, and often spoiled, as much of the staff isn’t wine-savvy.
