Rock Bottom Restaurant & Brewery Restaurant Review: Fresh brews made on-site range from pale ales and light lagers to a particularly good stout at this uptown chain. While the brews are decent, most strike us as lacking a mid-palate and depth of flavor, except for the aforementioned stout, which is big and bold. Southern Flyer lies a bit more gently on the tongue so might appeal more to patrons who prefer a lighter touch. The Sweet Magnolia, Rock Bottom’s nutty brown ale, achieves stardom in the house-made barbecue sauce applied to chicken and ribs. Other house favorites include Cajun fish tacos and fish ‘n’ chips. Kobe sliders are among the best choices on the menu, which includes nachos and wings, burgers and sandwiches. Ask about any seasonal offerings, such as an Oktoberfest smoked pork loin with Jack Daniel's apple raisin sauce, mashed redskin potatoes and fresh steamed vegetables. For dessert, try the carrot cake or triple-chocolate brownie.
