THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED The Rockwood Room Restaurant Review:

One look at chef-owner Michael Dei Maggi in his pork pie hat and you get the idea. The Rockwood Room is all about reinventing classic cuisine and cocktails from those heady post WWII days when Frank Sinatra crooned and dinner always began with a Manhattan and a plate of oysters Rockefeller. To say Dei Maggi loves the Rat Pack days is an understatement. But this cool, sleek little restaurant in the Tanglewood area doesn’t rely on just being retro. Dei Maggi---who made his mark at Max’s Wine Dive---uses fresh, local ingredients and he likes to throw in creative touches, such as infusing the Texas Kobe burger with butter, glazing his fried chicken with habanero honey, and serving a chipotle dipping sauce with his thick-cut onion rings. There are plenty of big steaks and Gulf Coast seafood on the menu as well as the chef’s granny’s rigatoni and meatballs. Even desserts are old-fashioned here, like the rich chocolate cake and apple fritters with cream. And, yes, they serve oysters “Rockwoodfeller” tinged with apple wood bacon and Parmigiano. For libations, there’s an extensive wine list or maybe try the Maple Bacon Manhattan.
