For New Yorkers tired of cakes and pies, Room4Dessert marries an imaginative dessert menu with an elegant SoHo space. The long narrow room offers seating only at the brushed metal bar, behind which chef Will Goldfarb creates his contemporary concoctions. The menu pairs a selection of Champagnes, wines and sherries with sweets like the white chocolate “margarita” with Meyer lemon gelée, or a “tasting” that combines flavors and textures: Apple in Various States---sorbet Tatin, tartare, “cidre” and tranche, or the Plat du Jour---“nolitela,” caramel ice cream, brioche and a divinity cloud. In addition to coffee and sodas, non-wine drinkers will find a unique selection of teas such as almond cream green tea, peony white blossoms and chocolate-mint.
