ROOMbeijing Restaurant Review: ROOMbeijing accommodates the young party set with its dance and chill-out music in the background and a waitstaff that whirls about as if they were on wheels. It’s a place to go with girlfriends for cosmopolitans and chicken wontons with avocado and lime dip before a night on the town. The cavernous room boasts huge wall murals, well spaced tables, and a terrace where you can see a slice of Beijing’s CBD cityscape up close. Most of the dishes, available in three sizes, can be shared. The food is either notable---Asian-spiced shrimp risotto with avocado ice cream offers a unique blend of hot then creamy---or, in comparison, rather ordinary, such as in the codfish linguine and steamed halibut. We recommend the house special salad, 40-plus-ingredients topped with a slow-cooked egg, a fresh melding of individual flavors. After hours, ROOMBeijing doubles as a club; there’s a well-stocked bar for cocktails and a serviceable wine selection too.
