In a neighborhood glutted with Indian restaurants, this one is a standout. India is known for its use of colors, and Rotee's bright walls are no exception; the palette includes red poppy, sunflower yellow and orange. The moderne blue chairs and red linoleum-topped tables only heighten the colorfest, which continues on your plate when the tasty food finally arrives. While you wait---and you will---enjoy the complimentary chai tea, Bollywood posters, cool neighborhood scene and house music. Diners usually need to order at the counter, or a server might come to your table, but whatever happens, order the tikka masala. Other standouts include tandoori fish and spicy bhuna gosht, a smooth hot sauce that goes remarkably well with lamb. The vegetable biryani can be a tad too greasy, but otherwise the dishes are lighter than the neighborhood's other Indian spots. The menu is cleverly written, the servers kind, and the food sparkles.
