Located in a converted gas station, this Armonk eatery is a trip back in time. Think classic soda fountain décor with advertisements from the 1930s and '40s, wooden booths, Chevrolets and Cadillac convertibles. In fact, one of these classic cars hangs above the bar. Texaco pumps recall the gas station that once was. It makes one want to order an ice cream soda while the jukebox plays. The menu, as you can guess, is all-American eclectic. Order the Route 22 steak sandwich with lettuce, tomato, mayonnaise, onions and provolone, or the California chicken sandwich with mayonnaise, guacamole, Swiss, bacon, lettuce and tomato. Contemporary touches are seen in the crispy green beans with wasabi ranch sauce; macaroni ‘n' greens with broccoli, spinach and toasted bread crumbs; and sesame-crusted rare ahi drizzled with spicy wasabi vinaigrette. Fun food to share is also on the menu, such as disco fries dripping with melted cheddar and brown gravy and bacon. Classic themed cocktails with catchy names and beer and wine selections add to the flexibility of the place as a bar and a restaurant.
