THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Royal Cafe Restaurant Review: Few French Quarter buildings can match LaBranche House for sheer grandeur, thanks to its three towering floors wrapped in iron lace. This is one touristy restaurant that merits serious attention for its menu, blessed with quality ingredients and imaginative execution. Barbecued baby-back ribs are meaty and succulent. The creamy oyster-and-artichoke soup would be no embarrassment in a much tonier venue. Breaded, pan-fried oysters are deliciously paired with a tasso-chili tartar sauce. The bread pudding is a good one. As for the wine list, it's a very pleasant surprise, boasting a very selective collection of vintages, with a special focus on California.
