Royal China Restaurant Review: The exterior of the building is modest, to say the least, but Royal China does a fair job of producing American/Chinese cuisine. The little dining room trolleys that are so much a part of the experience at dim sum restaurants in other cities aren’t used at this Metairie spot. Ambience is totally lacking, but that doesn't interfere with the pleasures of such dishes as spicy squid in black bean sauce, Chinese broccoli in oyster sauce and crackly fried paper shrimp, and a slew of various airy dumplings. Avoid the all-you-can-eat buffet. In a town with an inordinate number of Chinese restaurants, this one is average, at best.
