| The terrific, authentic cuisine prepared by the owner-cook and family members at the simple, no-frills Ruan Thai draws crowds. The flavors concocted by chef Krisana Suchotinunt come straight from the streets of Bangkok. The adventurous will enjoy the smoky eggplant salad with cut-up shrimp and the exquisitely savory larb pla (cooked and crumbled fish salad with chilies, ground rice and sliced shallots). Other favorites? The hoy tod (pan-fried mussels), the house special duck with its crispy skin, and the whole crispy fish with three-flavor sauce, best when it’s red snapper. They may ask if you want it hot---this is the time to experiment with some fire. It’s easy to overeat here, so take along some friends and order wisely and well. |
