Ruth's Chris Steak House Restaurant Review: When it comes to chain steakhouses, Ruth’s Chris has a certain allure, especially for corporate travelers. The steaks are Prime, tender and bathed (if you wish) in butter. However, when the place is packed (as it most often seems to be), the kitchen has a tendency to lose the handle and overcook a steak or two. That said, when they're good, they're way better than average. Don’t overlook sides like caramelized, broiled tomatoes and classic creamed spinach covered in melted Swiss and sharp cheddar. If you catch this place on a good night, you will be pleased as punch; if you go when there’s a big convention in town, you might wonder why you chose such a jam-packed, costly locale. The wine list has depth, and the desserts --- like whiskey sauce covered bread pudding --- get the job done. Additional local locations are in Northbrook and South Barrington.
