Just like most of this national chain's outlets, this spacious, dark-wood Theater District spot has been the place to visit for butter-basted Prime beef, broiled to order in a custom-built oven ever since it first opened its doors. Though a variety of other items (such as veal chops with sweet and hot peppers and the Maine lobster) fill out the menu, most people come for the beef. (Though if you’re somehow---gasp---not in the mood for meat, the marinated portobello mushrooms on garlic mashed potatoes with grilled asparagus and broccoli are almost as good.) Ruth's Chris is also renowned for its New Orleans-style bread pudding and Creole crème brûlée. The wine menu features 150 domestic and imported labels.
