Saba Cafe Restaurant Review: The bright lights, large screen TV behind the counter and prominent soda fountain give this small Vietnamese "café" on a side street the appearance of a soda shop. Traditional fare such as pho, Vietnamese sandwiches, salads and heartier dishes are reasonable without being in any way memorable, but if you order carefully you can pull off a palatable pre-movie meal (the Century 20 Downtown Redwood City movie theatre is within walking distance). Grilled, marinated quail is one star on the menu, as is the clay pot sea bass. Tamarind tiger prawns are another good choice. Flavors run to the mild side throughout. Shared plates provide a way to taste various dishes without committing entirely to one. |
