| Star sightings, most especially luminaries from the sports world, are an everyday occurrence at this old-fashioned red-sauce joint in Little Italy. The players---home teams and out-of-towners alike---all end up here at one time or another, leaving a trail of signed photographs in their wake. You'll see them digging into huge bowls of Sabatino's Bookmaker salad dotted with shrimp, salami, provolone cheese and hard-boiled egg, and then following up with abundant plates of homemade ravioli, veal Parmigiana, or perhaps shrimp Juan, with a garlic butter-wine sauce spiked with Tabasco. The nice thing is that they're not the only ones who get the star treatment. The cooking may be mainstream Italian-American, but the service is genuinely caring. |
