This Latino hideaway is tucked in just off Connecticut Avenue, in what was formerly a dumpy looking space. But Sabores shines with vigor, showcasing several Latino cuisines, including Cuban, Mexican and Peruvian. You’ll find a pleasant mix of small, large and even larger plates in the evening and we would suggest you aim to stop by for both midday and nighttime feasting. The white bean stew with grilled chorizo is spiked with cumin and the torta loca, or Mexican sandwich, is a zany combination of mayo, pickled jalapeños and a fried egg all stuffed into a crusty roll. In the evening, the fare gets more serious: Argentinean steak with chorizo, Brazilian black-bean stew, and a plate of ropa vieja. After dinner, head downstairs to the lounge, but midday, enjoy the breezes by eating in the open dining room.
