Sal Grosso Restaurant Review: The meal deal at this warmly decorated former Nathanial’s is the same as at any churrascaria, as you start with a trip to the salad bar, which also offers hot dishes. But the offerings are so mundane. Tuna fish salad? Does that make any sense? Traditional black beans and rice are offered among the hot dishes. On a previous visit, we liked the salty, rich-tasting picanha, but this time the winner was the lamb, carved pink, sweetly gamey and tender. The alcatra, or top sirloin, was properly medium rare as well. Yucca fries make the ideal accompaniment to the rich meats. Plantain also is offered, and it, too, is well done. The wine list has been embellished with some Brazilian selections, but on balance it is fairly dull. At the end of the day, unless you eat your weight in meat, we question the value ($40), as the tab quickly gets to $70 with tax and tip at dinner. |
