While it has good beef and some decent sides, The Saloon Steakhouse misses the boldness and bravura of places like Gibson's and the tradition and legacy of Gene & Georgetti. Nevertheless, its location, just a block off of tony Michigan Avenue, makes it a draw for shoppers and travelers in nearby ritzy hotels. We recommend the bone-in filet, but you can expect to pay about $35 for the pleasure. Hash browns are a crispy-good accompaniment, and for dessert, we like the hot fudge brownies. Though the service is professional, we cannot manage any superlatives for the décor.
