Salt Restaurant Review

: Salt, a venture of chef/owner David Iino, is an ingredient-driven American bistro that resides in the back corner of a Calabasas strip mall. The space has exposed rafters, a long bar with caged bulbs, pillars lined with mismatched wood blocks, and flowers on every wood table. Iino’s use of premium, specialty salts like pink Himalayan sea salt and black lava salt explains the name. Starters might include ale-steamed mussels with garlic, shallots and toasted bread; chicken and waffles with panko-crusted breast and balsamic maple glaze; or roasted beet carpaccio with Humboldt Fog goat cheese and aged balsamic. Entrées include grilled flat-iron steak with blue cheese and brick chicken with Meyer lemon nage. Bonus: Salt has a full bar.
