What was once El Mexicano then Hot Pepper has now morphed into a tiny Salvadoran/Tex-Mex place. Eat well at this sit-down/take-out eatery, from pupusas---large, flavorful, and served with shredded cabbage---to grilled steak, fajitas, yucca on chicharron, and assorted quesadillas and tacos. On the flip side, step across a few culinary borders into El Salvador for offerings of fried fish, beef tongue with tomato sauce, and grilled shrimp. You can even get a hearty breakfast of eggs, rice, cheese and Mexican sausage, among other selections. As for beverages, you will find some typical refreshers such as horchata and tamarindo, plus the usual soft-drink offerings. Desserts are minimal and possibly the most Salvadoran would be the plantain empanadas.
