Salvation Taco Restaurant Review: The chef-restaurateur team of April Bloomfield and Ken Friedman is behind a number of successful eateries dotting the lower portion of Manhattan: The Spotted Pig, The Breslin Bar & Dining Room, John Dory Oyster Bar. Joining the line-up is Salvation Taco, a moody bar-eatery off the lobby of The Pod Hotel in Midtown East. The namesake item is offered up as a juicy lamb taco made with a mini piece of naan and exploding with flavor. The skirt steak taco is constructed with a handful of tender pieces of steak and, inventively, pecans. There are a few sandwiches to consider, too --- the grilled lamb tongue torta is worth a visit all by itself. In typical Bloomfield fashion, there are also odd meaty pairings, such as the surprisingly good pork belly and pineapple salad. Desserts are not available, and drinks include overpriced tap beer and house cocktails, such as spiked horchata and chipotle-laced micheladas.
