| It's nice to see such an unpretentious, down-to-earth, genuinely family-friendly spot in Manhattan. It's even nicer to find out that it serves authentic, hearty Italian fare in extra-generous portions. For the pasta dishes, you pick your pasta and sauce, coming up with the combination that suits you. We recommend the penne with vodka sauce, or perhaps classic spaghetti with fresh tomatoes and basil. For sheer quantity, the chicken scarpariello is hard to beat. A whole bird is brought to the table, cooked with garlic and spices and cut up into manageable pieces. There’s also a gluten-free menu. Plate-sharing is a must here, so make sure everyone orders something different. Wash it all down with quantities of zingy, raw red wine---no need to be too picky at a restaurant like this. |
