THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Sambuca Restaurant Review:
It's nice to see such an unpretentious, down-to-earth, genuinely family-friendly spot in Manhattan. It's even nicer to find out that it serves authentic, hearty Italian fare in extra-generous portions. Starters include sizzling garlic shrimp and eggplant rollatini. For the pasta dishes, you pick your pasta and sauce, coming up with the combination that suits you. We recommend the penne with vodka sauce, or perhaps classic spaghetti with marinara. For sheer quantity, the chicken scarpariello is hard to beat. A whole bird is brought to the table, cooked with garlic and spices and cut up into manageable pieces. There’s also a gluten-free menu. Plate-sharing is a must, so make sure everyone orders something different. Sambuca’s wine bar offers Italian and U.S. labels available by the glass, half-bottle and bottle.
