THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Santa Fe Bar & Grill Restaurant Review:
We lament that the name Santa Fe might put off those who fear a blue-corn-happy Southwestern menu. Theres no such thing here-the restaurant is so named because it was once the Santa Fe Pacific Railroad stationhouse. Today, owner-chef Ahmed Behjati is happy to take diners on a tour of the adjacent 4,000 square-foot garden, where he grows much of the organic bounty that goes into his oft-changing contemporary California menu, including many rare herbs and vegetables imported from his native Iran. One day he might pluck golden beets and endive and dress them in a Champagne-lemon vinaigrette; for an entrée, hell pick sweet peas to stuff into the ravioli that accompany the roasted Cornish game hen. On warm evenings, its delightful to sit on the sprawling patio among the gardens, finishing dinner with a Meyer lemon cake topped with gingered strawberry compote and whipped cream. For a casual spinoff, try Behjatis Santa Fe Bistro.
